My degree program has given me the skills to work effectively and efficiently in a laboratory setting, it has improved my analytical and research skills and taught me about the chemistry of the human body. My involvement with the Aboriginal Student Council and Canadian Federation of Students has greatly improved my communication and leadership skills and given me the opportunity to network and meet new people.
I am a returning member of the University of Winnipeg Aboriginal Student Council; I previously held the position of treasurer and this year am the Pow wow Coordinator.
I am the chair of the University of Winnipeg Pow wow Committee.
I sit on the board of directors for Mouseland Press, a small printing press that publishes our student newspaper “The Uniter”
I have attended conferences for NWAC (Native Women’s Association of Canada) and CFS (Canadian Federation of Students)
I have volunteered as a science mentor for middle school students for the “Let’s Talk Science” program at the University of Winnipeg
I have volunteered for the “Respected Older Adults Diversions” program at the Health Science Centre
My goal has always been a career in health sciences. I am still deciding on whether pursue Medicine or Midwifery. My short term goal is to find employment performing medical research in a laboratory setting.
When I am not busy with school I enjoy traveling, golf and slo pitch, and pow wow dancing.
